Negotiations of President Putin with African Heads of State in 2012-2020

From May 2012 to March 2020 Vladimir Putin has held 56 personal meetings with 22 Heads of State from Africa. Almost half of these (46%) meetings have been with Egypt (13) and South Africa (12).

He met with the leaders of Angola, Guinea and Sudan on three occasions, twice with Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Republic of Congo, Uganda and CAR. He has conducted meetings with the leaders of Algeria, Gabon, DRC, Zambia, Kenya, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Senegal and Ethiopia.

From May 2012 to March 2020 Vladimir Putin has held 56 personal meetings with 22 Heads of State from Africa. Almost half of these (46%) meetings have been with Egypt (13) and South Africa (12).

In 2020, following the introduction of preventative restrictions, he has conducted telephone conversations with the Heads of State of Algeria, Republic of Congo, Egypt and Ethiopia, as well as remote meetings with the leaders of South Africa and Rwanda during the BRICS and G20 online summits.
